Scugog has a new arts and culture event happening this spring from May 1st to May 10th. The Scugog Council for the Arts is launching the first Small Town BIG: Scugog Arts Festival and Theatre on the Ridge will be there with 3 exciting events to entertain theatre lovers of all ages.

Opening at the Prince Albert Community Hall on May 2nd is Stag and Doe, an exuberant comedy by Mark Crawford, featuring company members Demi-Lee Bainbridge, Duncan Gibson-Lockhart, Frances Loiselle, Lexi MacRae, Daniel McCormack and Michael Williamson. With Stag and Doe, Theatre on the Ridge shares a laugh-filled look at the well known and distinctly rural Canadian prenuptial tradition staged in Scugog’s very own Prince Albert Community Hall and shines a light on the nature of love, marriage, and weddings. This ticketed production will run for 5 performances only on May 2, 7, 8 at 7:30 pm and May 9 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm.

On Tuesday May 5th, Monsters and Milfoil: A Tale of Lake Scugog returns with 2 performances (11 am & 1:30 pm) at Town Hall Theatre. Monsters & Milfoil will entertain pre-school to primary/junior elementary age youngsters and share the history and importance of Lake Scugog through interactive fun and song. First presented in 2018, this original production was made possible with the support of the Scugog Council for the Arts in partnership with the Scugog Lake Stewards. Monsters and Milfoil is being presented free of charge during Small Town BIG through the generosity of Vos’ Independent Grocers. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to show time.
