Theatre on the Ridge receives Ontario Trillium Foundation
Community Building Fund grant
Theatre on the Ridge will continue to keep theatre live with a $49,900 Community Building Fund – Operating Stream grant over the next 12 months.
These funds will allow Theatre on the Ridge, Durham Region’s only not for profit professional theatre company, to continue delivering experiences and programs for Ontarians through new staff hires, an upgraded website and offset rental expenses. The company will also be able to continue adapting to the impact of the pandemic by purchasing health and safety and digital equipment.
“With the Community Building Fund grant generously received from OTF, Theatre on the Ridge will be able to continue to produce high quality theatre and theatre programs for the residents and visitors of Durham Region while exploring new and innovative ways to present theatre to the world. This will include employment opportunities along with reinvestment of these dollars within Durham Region to help to strengthen our community” comments Theatre on the Ridge board president, Trevor Lundy.
Artistic Director, Carey Nicholson agrees and adds, “After the ongoing challenges of presenting live theatre during the pandemic, and adapting and pivoting our way through the last 18 months, this is very welcome news and we are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support and for their recognition of the importance of the work we do and our role in the community.”
Grant activities have already begun and Theatre on the Ridge looks forward to sharing the positive impact of the grant initiatives with their artists and patrons over the next year and beyond. For more information on the company, their programs and productions, visit – www.theatreontheridge.ca .
